The gorgeous Larimar and all you need to know about it

What is Larimar?

Larimar is a type of pectolite (a white to grey mineral) or a rock composed largely of pectolite, an acid silicate hydrate of calcium and sodium. Pectolite is found in many locations, but Larimar has a unique volcanic blue coloration, which is the result of copper substitution for calcium.

The various names..

Larimar is also known as the Dolphin Stone, Blue Pectolite, Atlantis Stone, and Stefilia’s Stone. Originally discovered in 1916, it was named by the Dominican who re-discovered it in 1974, taking the first letters of his daughter’s name, Larissa, and the Spanish word for the sea, “mar”, to create Larimar.
The colors definitely need a special mention!

Larimar is the embodiment of the tranquil Sea and Sky energies. Its soft, soothing blues and calming turquoise is streaked with white patterns that resemble sunlight dancing beneath Caribbean waters.

The copper substitution in Pectolite instead of calcium produces beautiful translucent shades of soft blues, and may contain red or brown areas of oxidation or Hematite inclusions. The more intense the blue and contrast within the stone, the rarer and higher its value.

How can Larimar be used?

It has a strong harmonious feminine energy and calls forth feelings of a spiritual nature. Healers may use this stone in layouts at any of the chakras from the heart chakra up, but it is most effective at the throat and the heart chakra.

Within the thymus or higher heart chakra, its vibration will aid you to forgive others that may have caused you difficulties and to clear deep-seated emotional pain.

It might be helpful to wear a piece close to the where you are feeling the pain, to keep the energy working at its highest capacity.
