Let’s admit, knowingly or unknowingly, we’ve all cut corners when it comes to our beauty regime. While some of the beauty offenses show immediate reactions, some take their sweet little time to affect our skin (and hair) adversely. Here is a list of beauty mistakes, we all are guilty of committing but should never ever make again.
- Not drinking enough water
Sorry to burst your bubble, but eight glasses of water isn’t enough. Drinking 67.8- 101.5 oz of water on a daily basis is a must; especially in summers. Drinking water flushes out toxins from your body giving you a lit-from-within glow.
- Not moisturizing
Even if it’s super humid outside, you can’t skip moisturizing. Moisturizer is food your skin; you need it to keep your skin in pink of its health. Opt for a lightweight moisturizer for summer and slater on whenever your skin feels rough or parched.
- Skipping an SPF
Be it a sunny or cloudy day, be it winter or summer, never ditch your SPF. SPF not only protects your skin from burning and premature ageing but it also protects you from various types of skin cancers that are caused by excessive exposure to UV rays.
- Sleeping with your makeup on
This is the worst beauty offense a person can commit. No matter how tired, lazy and sleepy you’re, never sleep without removing your makeup. While it’s advised to cleanse your face properly, removing make-up simply by using wet wipes can also save your skin considerably.
- Sleeping with your hair open
If you have shoulder length hair or longer, don’t sleep with your hair down. Tie your hair in a loose braid/bun, so that your hair does not break when you toss and turn around while sleeping.
- Not exfoliating regularly
If you want smooth & silky skin at all times, you must exfoliate it once a week. Exfoliating helps you get rid of dead skin, something which regular cleansing can’t do. Moreover, if you’re a girl who uses tanning products, let us tell you that the tan comes out to be more vibrant when your skin is free of dry flakes and dead-cells.
- Drinking alcohol in excess
A little bit of alcohol is definitely good for your skin and hair but as soon as you overdo it, it starts to take a toll on your looks. Alcohol when consumed in excess, leads to dehydration which results in flaky, dull skin and dry & brittle hair.
- Not getting enough sleep
The rule of beauty sleep isn’t a myth. We all know that our body’s damaged cells get repaired when we sleep and so does our skin. So, if you want flawless skin, it’s essential to have a good 6-8 hour sleep.
- Not exercising enough
Exercising is not only beneficial for your overall well-being but the sweating also releases toxins from body which results in healthy & glowing skin. Exercising also increases oxygen in-flow in your blood which gives you a naturally flushed look.
- Not using a heat-resistant product
First of all, avoid heat styling your hair regularly but if you really need to, never do it without applying a heat resistant product. Exposing your hair to high temperatures without a protectant can burn them and make them dull and brittle. Using a heat-resistant spray will not only protect your hair from the heat of the hot iron/styling tool but also from the harsh sun rays.
